Life Coaching
I’m pretty sure it’s a universal fact that everyone experiences breakdown, breakthrough, heartbreak, utter frustration, exhaustion, or ‘aha’; at some point and recognizes something needs to change. We struggle to meet our goals, stay on track, or balance work, home, and relationships and keep hitting the same roadblocks time and again. Unfortunately, we rarely stop and dedicate time to identify our own needs to nurture and enhance our well-being while striving to do, achieve, and take care of everyone else.
Strong women are notorious for neglecting self for the sake of others. Neglecting you leads to excessive and unnecessary physical and psychological discomfort (e.g., high stress, anxiety, worry, depression, etc.). Living under this load contributes to strained relationships and a depleted self. We cannot reach our potential without intentional self-discovery, commitment, planning, and implementation. The first step to positive, long term change is awareness, understanding how we function and why (the neuroscience and psychology underlying our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors). Self-mastery is the key to positive well-being and efficiency in all that we do.
Life coaching with Julie is about this process. It’s a powerful investment in you.
Our son is a typical teenager with self-confidence issues. Additionally, at 11th grade, he was at the crossroads regarding career choices and wanted to have a coach who could help him through a career discovery. Coaching with Julie was a great experience for both our son and us. Through 1:1 coaching and assessments, Brandon gained a better understanding of his strengths and weaknesses. Using this discovery, he was able to narrow down his career choices to a small list. Additionally, Julie's coaching gave Brandon insights on how to improve her self-confidence through positive thinking. We were very impressed with Leah’s ability to connect and communicate clearly with our son. Her coaching style is very pragmatic, yet strength and value based. We have offered Brandon the opportunity to continue coaching with Julie on an ‘as needed’ basis. We suspect this will be a life-long partnership. As a result of Julie's coaching, Brandon is slowly but surely improving his self-confidence. She is more self-aware and proud of her strengths and accomplishments. We highly recommend Julie's coaching for your teen, regardless of what situation they are in. Give it a try and you will be very pleased. – Parents of a 16-year-old Client

“Before I met Julie all I saw was why I couldn’t do more with myself. I didn’t even realize that my confidence was so low. I felt like my past was who I was and I always felt like people were judging me without knowing anything about me. Julie helped me to realize that I was really the one judging me and holding me back. The confidence and skills I gained from Julie's coaching have completely changed my outlook. I finally feel like I have so much to look forward to and so many options. She helped me to stop looking back and make my life happen from here. I can’t even put in words the difference it made for me.” – 18-year-old client.
Studies show three major factors contribute to individual levels of well-being (Lyubomirsky, Dickerhoof, Boehm, & Sheldon, 2011). These factors are the genetic set point (50%), intentional activities (40%), and life circumstances (10%) (Lyubomirsky, et al., 2011).
50% genetic set point (genetically determined stable level of happiness, resistant to change)
40% intentional activity (positive cognitive, behavioral, goal-based activities)
10% life circumstances (income, marital status, religiosity)
Coaching helps in the area of intentional activities; what we do and how we think.
“If we observe genuinely happy people, we find that they do not just sit around being contented. They make things happen. They pursue new understandings, seek new achievements, and control their thoughts and feelings. If an unhappy person wants to experience interest, enthusiasm, peace, and joy, he or she can make it happen by learning the habits of a happy person.” – Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky
