Goal Recovery Coaching
Recovery is a journey to health and wellness. Substance abuse is a behavior, an outcome, before it becomes a cause. This behavior serves a functional purpose until it naturally progresses to dysfunctional and begins to interfere with our relationships, effectiveness, growth, progress, and life satisfaction, at best. At worst, lives are lost, destroyed, and families are torn apart. Recovery coaching through a Dream Agency is about collaborative and empowering support through self-mastery, self-determination, appropriate motivation, practical strategies, strength-based leverage, and values-based commitment for long term change. All of my work is purely confidential. Level of support and strategy are tailored to the client’s needs.
Personal Story: I know immediate and long term change is possible because I experienced my own self-determined transformation as a adult. I abused substances from 39 to 41. My personal experience is a primary reason I’m so passionate about coaching teens and young people. I had an overdose scare at 41 that stopped me for about six months. I began using again, and came to my ‘aha’ moment shortly thereafter, at 42. I realized something had to change if I wanted to remain in control of my life and live to see my children grow up. I had already lost my children temporary due to my poor choices and a partner to prison. I had one of each of the most drastic outcomes very close to my heart and made the decision to challenge myself to do something with the life and freedom I was lucky enough to still have. All it took was one moment of utter sincerity and resolve. I walked away from that life, cut ties with anyone who may attempt to draw me back into those behaviors, and found a support system that was congruent with my new found goals to live well. I haven't touch another substance and now I am established well enough in my personal development, awareness, and healthy coping skills that I was safe to begin drinking alcohol again socially, or to have a glass of wine with dinner when I chose to. Drinking responsibly and abusing are different worlds. When you’re abusing drastic measures are necessary to move to recovery for the journey to the other side. It’s about finding the formula that works for you and your situation. We’re all different. I’m here to support others who are at the crossroads where I once stood, to ease the process and empower them to find the success they desire to move positively forward.
